Lake Ontario Fishing Charters

Lake-Ontario-Fishing-Charters

Are you looking for your next memorable experience with family and friends?  Come to Lake Ontario and let me provide you with that experience.  I operate a premier Lake Ontario fishing charter for king salmon, coho salmon, steelhead, brown trout, and lake trout.  To assure this, my Lake Ontario Charters leave from Wright’s Landing Marina in Oswego, NY.

Why Oswego versus other Lake Ontario ports you might ask?

I selected Wright’s Landing Marina for my Lake Ontario fishing charters because it has the best facility in Oswego with wide and stable docks, ample parking for clients and modern bathroom facilities.  It also happens to be located in Oswego County which currently holds 12 World and State Record Fish from Lake Ontario or Lake Ontario tributaries.  Of these records, 10 are for our targeted sportfish on our Lake Ontario charters; king salmon, coho salmon, king/coho hybrids, steelhead, and brown trout!

To make your trip easier to plan and enjoy, I include all necessary tackle and bait, fish cleaning, and ice for your catch.  All you need to bring is your food, drink, a fishing license and most importantly, your desire to have fun!

Come relax, have fun and enjoy all that Lake Ontario has to offer!

Meet Captain Andy

With nearly 20 years of Lake Ontario angling experience and over 10 years of Guiding and Chartering experience, I strive to provide the Lake Ontario fishing experience you desire.  Although my primary goal is to offer my Clients the best Lake Ontario sportfishing opportunity possible, I also provide a social and comfortable environment to promote a well-rounded Lake Ontario experience which is really more than “just fishing”.

I began Broad Horizons Guide and Charter Service after some time of Guiding fishing trips and deciding I want to grow my business to provide Lake Ontario fishing charters.  Since 2009, I have been actively evolving my business to offer my Clients the best and most enjoyable Lake Ontario fishing experiences possible.

Over the years, the two biggest changes have been the purchase of my current boat, a Penn Yan Predator with twin inboards and the choice of docking at Wright’s Landing Marina in Oswego, NY.  The purchase of my larger boat offers my Lake Ontario charter Clients much more space and fishing room than my previous boat along with the comforts of better seating and an enclosed and private bathroom.  Aside from Oswego’s reputation for productive Lake Ontario sportfishing, it offers more direct travel routes for distant Clients and more marina amenities along with convenient lodging and dining options within a reasonable distance.

Fishing has still been good but conditions keep us on the move. I've been starting the day off looking for browns inside or searching offshore for a while and then switch gears and target Lakers on the bottom in 140 to 160 FOW. It's been so flat lately, I hope we don't get killed with wind later in the season.

Today, my scheduled crew was too concerned about being out in the forecasted rain so instead of pushing them to come and possibly having a bad experience, I made an exception and let them reschedule...

So, I called Jim and Jake and they were eager to brave the elements. We took our time heading out a bit after 6 and ran to 150 or so. Got things set up and kept heading North. At around 400, we got our first king and we turned back South. The South troll definitely was better throughout the morning and we kept pretty busy around 315 FOW. We finished up 10 for 12 and kept 9. Riggers at 45 and 55, wires at 105, 125, and 150, 150cu, and 200 cu all got hit with the riggers and wires doing most of the fish. Stingrays in SSW, diehard, alewive, and spook got multiple hits, gator and black widow each got 1 hit. And not one drop of rain!

Thanks again Jim for helping with my bottom paint and other pre-season maintenance!

Today was good for Bob Conway and Jeff. Leading up to the trip, Bob kept hinting about kings since he caught some with me a year ago next week. I decided to give them a shot since I knew some are in town and it worked out great.

We fished from 140 to 260 FOW, mostly between 225 and 260 between the Cemetary and 4 mile. Stingray spook took many of our hits on a wire and also the 200 copper. Wires were at 45 and 55 early, 60 and 75 later, 2 and 3 color cores, 200 copper, and a 50' rigger got hits. Other than the spook; ssw, alewive, and black widow got hit. We kept 5 kings, 1 steelie, 4 lakers, threw back a skippy, and lost 2 on the 2 colors.

Thanks again Bob and I look forward to your next trip later this season!

Fishing started out good today for Mike and Brandon. We started out as usual, shallow water and scorpion spoons. After a busy 2 hours, we had 10 bites and netted 5 but once the smaller boats started working the same stretch, it shut the fish off. After trying slightly deeper for a bit, we headed out for lakers, which got us 6 or 7 more bites and 5 fish. Mike held the lead for most of the day but Brandon closed strong after his early struggle.

Great fishing, good weather, great clients, and jammed some good tunes too...what more could you ask for?
